Malware attacks hotels again

Travel News 19 Aug 2016

Hackers have attacked 20 hotels run by HEI Hotels and Resorts, including HyattMarriottStarwood and Intercontinental with a targeted malware. The cyberattack may likely have resulted in personal and financial information of thousands of customers being stolen and leaked.

Hotel officials say hackers may have accessed card account numbers, verification codes, names and card expiration dates from customers beginning in December 2015.

The security incident could have affected the payment card information of travellers who used cards at point-to-point sale terminals, such as food and beverage outlets at certain properties.

It is advisable to visit the website of HEI, Hyatt, Marriott, Starwood and InterContinental if you think you have been affected by this incident for the latest updates and advice from the hotel.
